Warner introduce a "swap your DVDs for Blu Ray" service

Warner Bros has introduced a new service in the US for those looking to upgrade old WB DVDs to Blu Ray discs. More details at www.dvd2blu.com.
It's not available in the UK yet and it's not actually as generous a deal as it first appears: for each disc it's actually $7.95 (around a fiver) and the postage is another couple of quid unless you send them 25 or more. Still, not a bad initiative.

Only 55 (poorly selling) titles available to "upgrade"
No plans for availability outside the US
Nothing to do with Virgin cable HD services

Good incentive by Warner hope more companies do this and it comes over seas. I've stopped buying DVD's because BD is just so much better and yes its an "upgrade" which in my opinion is well worth it. The prices of Blu-Rays are coming down and i like the fact that you get a 'digital copy' with the majority of new releases. Cheers for letting me know

Thanks for letting me know. I am intrested in anything HD or coming soon services.

Mark - Get a grip pal, I've noticed a few posts taking a dig and it winds me up.

This is a blog put together in his spare time to help keep people keep updated with news and the latest going ons. Granted it may not always be to do with Virgin Cable HD Services as you point out, but its information a lot of us find intresting.

"Get a grip"
You find it "interesting" to read about offers only available to US customers? This "incentive" is limited to poorly selling back catalogue titles which Warner are obviously over stocked with. I was only agreeing with the blogger that it's not a generous "offer" at all.
As for "spare time" pursuits, one of mine is to read (and comment) on this blog, but I don't want to read anything completely irrelevant to High Definition services from Virgin.

This blog primarily covers Virgin Media's HD services but occasionally I post on HD or Virgin Media related matters that I feel will be of interest to the small community who read it regularly.

...which you're perfectly entitled to do, of course. However, I'm also entitled to disagree with your choices on your PUBLIC blog!

I have no problem with that - just wanted to explain why there are sometimes posts that aren't 100% VM HD.
The Blog traffic has been dipping a little since the arrival of the additional HD channels in the summer, but there are still around 1000 visitors a day so I like to give all something new to read two or three times a week if I have the time.

Further to this..I'd say comments/news about Freeview, Sky, Tiscali and BT are fair game because they offer similar services to Virgin. I'd draw the line at Blu-Ray (especially promotions from America!) and high definition video games because they are covered in far more depth elsewhere.

I'd be happy to see broader HD-related content on this blog. How about a vote Nialli?

Mark - I find your posts aggressively worded too. Not a dig - just an observation.

Personal attacks? Let's leave that for the schoolyard shall we?

So, you are admitting that you are a schoolboy then Mark???

I personally like to come and visit here, even though I ditched Virgin Media (although I do still have their phone and internet services) because of the friendly nature of folk who come here.

Also because I have just bought a new BD player and plasma telly this week, I am interested in what Nialli had to say about BD's.

Sorry Mark, but you're out on your own here. No-one asks you to visit the site - if you don't like to read posts that aren't 100% VMHD related, then I'm sure there are other places to look. Personally, I do think BD news is relevant; should disc prices come down to realistic levels, that impacts on demands for VM to carry HD movie channels. Just my two penn'orth, obviously.

Mark, over use of CAPS is a childish way of posting maybe you should leave the schoolyard.

Can't find a way to close the comments here without turning them off for all posts, but can we draw a close to this topic now as it's getting a little personal? Thanks.
